Changes?

• to make the form, nature, content, future course, etc., of (something) different from what it is or from what it would be if left alone: to change one's name;to change one's opinion;to change the course of history.
• to transform or convert (usually followed by into): The witch changed the prince into a toad.

Anyone have some sort of change, transformation or conversion happening in their life right now?  Moving?  Having a baby?  Getting a new job?  Getting divorced or married?  Lose someone close to you?  Chances are you are dealing with some sort of change and maybe you're struggling with that change.  I definitely struggle with change, specifically in the months and days leading up to that anticipated change.

My son just graduated high school and I'm really proud of him.  He has worked hard to do his best, even when it was difficult. Diploma in hand, he heads out of state for college in August.  So that means that I have to get ready for a major change in my life (not to mention that I need to make sure he's ready!), one that I've been mentally preparing for this entire school year.  Now that we've been through the graduation, I'm onto the next mental hurdle - getting ready to leave him across the country this August. 

Not sure what your process is for dealing with difficult changes, but mine is pretty basic.  Let myself have time to cry if I need to, take care of my physical health, hang out with friends more often, keep busy, spend all day reading a book if I want to.  Surrounding myself with people who think the way I do is also critically important (not the mom who literally scoffed at me being emotional at one of last sporting events my son played in).  People who are feeling the same way may have helpful advice or could be a great sounding board. 

Change is coming to my family and I'm just trying to think super positively about this amazing adventure my son is going on.  It'll be fun to watch from here...just pass the tissues.
